I recently stopped in South Shore at a popular shoe destination to buy a pair of sneakers for my daughter. I’d always wanted to stop in this store. I’d noticed the line is usually single file and winds down the block. You can always tell when a new pair of Jordan’s are being released. I asked a man working in the store if he had a brannock device to measure the student’s foot. He said they didn’t have one in the store, but he had a big desert eagle looking pistol on his hip that my six-year-old daughter pointed out. Here we were in a shoe store, and there weren’t any foot-measuring instruments around, but there was an armed guard at the front door and an armed guard that floats around to bring you the shoes. Society once again is holding its nose up at you.
